Material overview
Polyamide 6, commonly known as Nylon 6, is a thermoplastic produced by ring-opening polymerization of caprolactam. It combines strength, stiffness, wear resistance and chemical resistance with good processability, making it a widely used engineering plastic for automotive, electrical and electronic, mechanical, textile and consumer applications.

High tensile and impact strength for mechanically loaded components.

Good wear resistance for gears, bearings and other sliding components.

Heat resistance that can be further improved through reinforcement and heat stabilization.

Resistance to oils, fuels, lubricants, alkalis and many industrial chemicals.

Good electrical insulation under dry conditions; moisture absorption must be considered during material selection.

Good flow and processability in injection molding, extrusion and other thermoplastic processes.

Good fatigue resistance under repeated mechanical loading.

Good surface finish for visible molded parts.
